C'est Magnifique! ~ Victorian Decor

Hello creative friends, I'm happy to share my next DT project for Mixed Media Warriors ~ August Mood Board, this month's challenge is Vintage/Old School using pastels. Mood Board is posted below. I went with a Vintage/Shabby Chic - Victorian style design. This project originally started out as a card, but I later decided to add it to a 5x7 wooden plaque that will sit on a small easel.

These papers are from Graphic 45 "Gilded Lily" collection, I've had it for quite some time, it was nice to finally put them to use. I added many flowers and lace, the chipboard saying is gold embossed, I added a button with some twine, some gold  micro beads, pink fragments, baby blue glass beads, gold wax and lots of layering.

For more inspiration and to join the challenge, please stop by the Mixed Media Warriors Challenge Blog.

Quick side note: If you haven't noticed, I tend to change from different styles and techniques when creating, for me it keeps it fun, interesting and's a great way to keep my creative juices flowing as I get bored very easily.

Have a fun and creative day!!!

By The Sea - Lighthouse Frame

Hello creative friends, happy to share another DT project for Art Anthology. For today's project I made a mixed media, somewhat altered lighthouse frame. I decided not to add a photo yet (needing one that's just right), instead I removed the glass piece and replaced it with pattern paper and a wooden sentiment, I saved the glass piece for when I add the photo later.

I used a combination of Art Anthology Colorations color sprays, Velvet and Sorbet dimensional mediums and some Stone Effects. Please visit the Art Anthology blog for more creative and inspirational ideas...there you will also find links to Pinterest and YouTube. Also, you can join us on Facebook "Art Anthology Adventures In Art", where you can share your ideas and beautiful works of art. Hope to see you there!

Below you will find a step by step tutorial, along with a list of supplies.

Beauty of a White Heart

Hi everyone, in lieu of Valentine's Day, I decided to share a meaningful piece of Art, it is in remembrance of my beautiful mom. Although she passed away many years ago, there are many days I feel as if it were yesterday. She was an amazing woman who had such a pure heart...the Beauty of a White Heart! She was honest, kind and good natured, such a gentle soul to be around, who always tried to see the good in people. She inspired me in many ways and continues to inspire me to be the best person I can be. Life is not perfect, all we can do is try our best to be kind and respectful of those around us.

Every time I look at this piece, I get a warm feeling inside that makes me smile. I feel blessed to have had this woman in my life. She will forever be missed!

Whenever possible, remember to...

"Be Silly. Be Honest. Be Kind."
- Ralph Waldo Emerson

I use my phone to record my videos, I was zoomed in and somewhat off camera, I didn't notice until I was finished.
I uploaded it anyway in hopes you will get the gist of it!
If not, sorry! :(

Have a fun and creative day!!!

Moments in Time

Hi all, happy to announce that once again I am a guest designer for Frilly and Funkie, as always, it is such a pleasure. This weeks challenge is hosted by Pamellia and the challenge theme is "Things with Wings"... create any vintage or shabby chic project with something that has wings. It can be butterflies, bees, dragonflies, whatever you can think of.

For my project I decided to do a shabby chic tag using purple, which is one of my least favorite colors to work with, but I just fell in love with the harlequin paper. For the wings challenge I chose to go with birds, I used the larger tag (#10) which would accommodate the clock, flowers and 2 birds that I knew I wanted to use. For the clock piece I used Scrapiniec decorative chipboard, I really love how a lot of their chipboard pieces are layered.

Be sure to stop by the Frilly and Funkie blog, join in on the challenge and check out some awesome inspiration from the design team.

Have a great day!!!

Shabby Chic Trinket Box

Hello everyone, for today I will share with you a trinket box I made for my swap partner Wendy, we joined a swap in the Chic Craftique FB group. One of my favorite things to create is off the page art, from decorating boxes and frames to altering clocks and mousetraps. For this swap we had to make a Trinket Box.

I bought a plain wooden box at AC Moore, painted it, glued decorative papers to it, heat embossed it, added flowers, pearls, lace and some bling. I used the papers from Authentique's "Luxe" collection and Echo Park"s "Be Mine" collection.

I had so much fun putting it all together, I really hope she likes it.

Altered Shabby Chic Serving Tray Swap

Hi everyone, I'm back with another altered project, this time it's a metal serving tray. I made this for another swap for the FB group Chic Craftique, I was partnered up with the wonderful Diann. This is my first altered tray, so I'm excited to share. The tray had to be at least 12" by 8.5", have a floral cluster and contain laces/trims around the border.

Diann wanted something that would fit in with the décor in one of her rooms that was painted turquoise and beige, and with shells. So I did my best to create a shabby chic tray with some sea creatures and a wooden sentiment made by Kaisercraft, which was kept simple other than adding some clear pearlescent embossing powder from LSG "Magic Moon Pearls", to give it some shimmer.

I also added some Lumiere paint by Jacquard "Super Sparkle" around the embossed edges of the tray for more shimmer. The large star fish and 2 shells I made out of resin molds and the tiny star fish is from Prima. Most of the flowers are from Petaloo and Prima and all of the other embellishments are from the local craft stores. Hope she likes it and it matches with the décor.

How To Video...Shabby Chic Altered Spool

Hi everyone, I'm back with a similar altered spool from my post yesterday, but as promised I did a YouTube video showing how to alter a spool from beginning to end. So todays project is the shabby chic spool that I used in the video, which is posted below.

It's pretty much the same as the other altered spool, I just changed up a few embellishments, but again, the main reason for this project was to show how to put it together. Besides, the other spool was given in a swap, so now I have one to keep for myself , yay!

Altered Shabby Chic Spool Swap

Hi everyone, today I want to share a project I made for an altered spool swap that I was in for the FB group Chic Craftique. I was partnered up with the lovely Julia, this is my first altered spool, so I went through some YT videos to get some ideas and in doing so, I couldn't find any that actually show how to put one together. So I decided I would make a YouTube video showing how to do an altered spool from beginning to end, so stay tuned as I will be posting on my blog in the next day or two.

The requirements were pretty simple, spool size was a minimum of 1.5 inches, had to hang, have at least 3 dangles, a charm, 3 or more flowers and lace. Most materials can be found at any local craft store. I hope this has put a nice smile on her face! :)

Pretty In Pink

Hey there, today I want to share a project that I made for some wall décor, it's an 8x8 Vintage Shabby Chic Layout. I made this for my friend Stacy, we joined in on Easter swap together for the Chic Craftique FB group, where we were to send candies, crafty goodies and a project.

She has been through some tough times, health wise, so I wanted to make her something super special. I know her favorite color is pink and like me, she loves a variety of styles, so I'm hoping vintage shabby chic is one of them. I truly hope this helps put a nice smile on her face!

I did a quick YouTube video which is posted below, I did leave out that the "a Dream" tab and the background paper with the crown, is from Echo Park's page kit "Be Mine". The pearls, lace, flowers and bling I picked up at AC Moore.

Have a great day!!!

Shabby Chic Altered Frame

This piece was made for Kathy (heaven) on the CMB. She was in the die-cut swap that I was in, as shown previously, but her partner flaked and she never received her die-cuts from the swap. So me and 2 other members, Gwen and JeanP, decided to fill in as Angels and each make her a project.  I decided to do a die-cut frame (which is one of the things she wanted) from the George and Basic Shapes cartridge and I added a die-cut pocket watch from TH. She also requested Shabby Chic. Hope she enjoys it.
