"Shine" Art Journal Page

Hi everyone, today I would love to share with you my first Art Journal page. This has been something that I tend to struggle with, so I never even attempted it until now. My biggest issue is getting started, focusing on an idea and finding ways to implement it, not to mention my fear of ruining pages of my mixed media art journals, as these books can be quite costly. Stopping by my local library, I found a section of old books that were selling for a dollar, so I bought several and decided to use one of the books for my practice journal.

I started off by covering several pages with gesso and went from there. I'm still trying to figure out what works best together, between watercolor, inks, sprays, paints an so on. Below I used a bit of everything, soon realizing using the Neocolor water soluble crayon for the hair was not my best idea, but it is what it is...practice, practice and more practice!!! :)

Enjoy...

I covered the pages with a light layer of gesso, some stamping and Art Anthology sprays.

I used Steampendous face stamp "The Look", some stencils and  Dylusions paint.

For shading and highlights, I used various Prima chalk inks and Neocolor crayons.

For definition a Sharpie thin black marker.

Quote... Impression Obsession stamp (E17095) - Shine the unique light that is only yours to shine.

A is for Art

Hi everyone, glad to be back with a quick and simple project, I made an Artist Trading Card (ATC) from a challenge created by Marta in her Facebook group called Maremi's Creative CafĂ©. She set out a challenge to create 52 small cards or ATC's, with each card having its own theme. There you will find so many fun and inspiring ways to create such small pieces of art. The size I'm using is  (2 1/4 x 3 1/2) same as Prima's alphabet cards, but you can use a deck of playing cards which is just a tad bigger or create your own.

The first challenge is A for Art, you can use the word or just create something inspired by it. This challenge started about a month ago and it's now on E, but there is no rush as you create at your leisure, the point is to have fun with it. Hope can join in on the challenge, if you share your project be sure to add #52cafecards so it can easily be found. Incase you don't use Facebook, below I have posted the current themes.

Enjoy...

Current list to date:
A - Art
B - Bubbles
C - Coffee
D - Dragonfly
E - Eclipse

Live, Laugh, Love... Tag

Hi everyone, here is a tag I made using different elements of mixed media. It's been a while since I've played with my inks and sprays, I guess you can say I'm having a bit of a withdrawal, lol! So I decided to play for a bit and came up with this tag, which came together rather quickly. I used some molding paste on the heart, LSG sprays, Tim Holtz inks and various stamps.

I did a bit of a faux pas in the order of the words... love, live, laugh, should read...

Live, Laugh, Love

Live Well
Laugh Often
Love Much

(Oopsy Daisy)...nonetheless, I had fun playing, enjoy!!!

Happy Crafting!!!
