Kelley's Book of Shadows...Final Post

Finally we have arrived to the last post showing the complete book of shadows. This was a long process, but I was very happy with it's end result and to finally send it away. I know Kelley is having fun with it, just wondering how long it will take to fill in all of them color charts...oh boy!!! I didn't get a chance to go through all of the pictures before mailing this out to Kelley, so I picked the best ones out of the bunch, they're not perfect, but I think they will do. Anyways, hope you guys enjoyed the journey!

Kelley's Book of Shadows...

Every chapter cover had a leathery chapter page in front of it, just like the one in this pic.

Part Six...Kelley's Book of Shadows - Chapter Five

All though there are 6 chapters, chapter 5 was the last one that I completed in it's entirety, chapter 6 will be on with the final post as I just covered it with Kelley's favorite paper line from Graphic 45 "Steampunk Debutante", but I didn't add anything else to it other than the back for the tag. I left it so Kelley can add a part of herself to it, her own touch, if you will. This chapter had color charts for a variety of sprays, LSG, Heidi Swap, Dylusions and Tattered Angels, so I decided I would create a mixed media piece using mainly sprays to create it. I also used some fluid inks and transparent liquid paints as well as some prima chalk inks. I added a Kaiser Kraft wooden tree flourish and covered it with some rock candy distress crackle paint, which gave it great texture, I then inked it with Liquitex transparent inks. Again, I tried keeping this as grungy as possible.

I will be adding links to the previous posts:

Chapter Five...

Fussy cut these butterflies from some Graphic 45 papers that I had in my scrap paper stash.

Rock candy distress crackle paint worked perfect for the texture on the tree.

Made a pocket for more tags.

Part Five...Kelley's Book of Shadows - Chapter Four

I'm back with chapter 4 and this time I decided I would go the vintage direction. Still wanting to keep this grungy looking, I thought it would be neat to add texture to the background as though it were an old broken wall. It reminds me how the slats behind plaster walls would look when some portions of the plaster walls would fall off. I used corrugated pieces from a box I had laying around, painted it in many different colors, I used TH distress embossing powders on it and some sprays to match the background papers. I used an old vintage image that I covered with acetate and added the TH die cut frame that was heat embossed using dark brown glitter and chunky embossing, brown and copper. Overall I think I captured the vintage feel, even if it is on the dark and grungy side, but it's just how Kelley likes it!!!

Chapter Four...

TH die for the frame and Stampandous Encrusted embossing powders and glitter.

Added several pockets on the back for tags or notes.

Part Four...Kelley's Book of Shadows - Chapter Three

Here we are with the 3rd chapter. I know that one of Kelley's styles besides grunge is steampunk and I believe her favorite paper line from Graphic 45 is "Steampunk Debutante" that's what I used. On this cover my focus was on the steampunk hat. I printed a sketch I found online for the hat and cut it into 2 pieces (rim and top hat) to use as a template. I traced the images on some kraft chipboard, then covered the chipboard with TH tissue paper. I used LSG sprays, Th embossing folder and TH distress paint to color the hat. I used TH dies to cut out the gears (some I rusted and some I used TH distress embossing powders, inked them with copper paint)and I also added some metal gears I had in my stash. I used flowers, black glitter flourishes, feathers, jeweled leaf and a copper chain that was also from my stash. All in all, I really liked how it turned out.

Part Three...Kelley's Book of Shadows - Chapter Two

I'm back with another post, this one for the 2nd chapter cover I made for Kelley's book. I know she has a huge love for Graphic 45 papers, so I decided to use Graphic 45's "Curtain Call" for this chapter. Even though I kept this one clean and simple, I found some paper from DCWV to somewhat keep it grungy. I also used papers from Paper Studio for the back cover and added some tags.

I will be adding links to the previous posts:

Part Two...Kelley's Book of Shadows - Chapter One

Back for part two of the Shadow Book, this is the 1st chapter of 6. The color charts for this chapter are for TH products, inks, stains and so on. So I decided to make this chapter cover focusing on Tim Holtz. I used several of his dies, stamps and embellishments. I used kraft chipboard for all of the die cuts...butterflies, suitcase and tag. I had so much fun making these butterflies, I clued TH tissue paper to the kraft board and sprayed 3 of the butterflies with some LSG copper sprays and I used a combination Perfect Pearls powders, green, blues and copper for the other 2 butterflies. I then used TH black soot distress paint for the edges and creases. I got the rusted ornate plate from another swap I was in with my crafty friend, Gwen and I used TH distress black soot paint to darken some of the edges on that as well. All in all, I really enjoyed making this chapter cover, as Tim Holtz products are some of my favorites to work with.

I will be adding links to the previous posts:

Chapter One...

Tore the edges and added TH distress embossing powders.

Glued butterfly cardstock and splattered black paint to the suitcase to grunge it up. I used these chipboard letters from my stash, mixed molding paste with black acrylic on top, once dried, I used Rub n Buff on the peaks and valleys.

Butterflies were made as listed  above, with tissue paper and Perfect Pearls.

TH letters/numbers...Alpha Parts

TH chit chat stickers, trinket pin and tag.

More added goodies.

On the back, I made a pocket for some tags.

The color charts found on the Ranger site, they do not have one for the distress embossing powders, so I made that one on my computer. I decorated each color chart specific to each product, meaning I used glitter on the glitter chart, markers on the marker chart, etc...etc..
