Fall Home Decor - Turquoise Pumpkin

Hello everyone... so happy to be back after a long over due break. Between vacations and being under the weather (still in the midst of recouping), it feels great to return to my studio, sit and have some fun. In the process of working on some fun Christmas projects, including some giveaways, so stay tuned.

With that said, the Fall season is still here and for today's project, I decided to create some "Fall" home décor. I was challenged to create my very first mood board and to share my creative process and ability to design around it...such a great and fun idea. As I enjoy this beautiful fall weather, I created a mood board based around it.

My Fall Mood Board...
Some of the lovely fall photos are by photographer Carl Christensen.

Living in Pennsylvania, I get to enjoy all the different climate changes for each season, Fall being one my favorite's. Love the crisp cool sweater weather, the smell of fresh baked pies and gorgeous scenery of the mountains. Typically I don't use turquoise in my fall décor, "not sure why" as it's a beautiful contrast and I use it in my den, with that in mind and using the mood board, I created a turquoise pumpkin.

Still incorporating the typical Fall elements, like pumpkins, rustic/distressed woods and orange candles, I thought, why not incorporate some "beach like" elements on the pumpkin that could work for some who live near the coastal beaches and/or warmer climate areas.

I used the various colors of turquoise and teal to create the distressed look of the pumpkin...I created "treasures" of  turquoise and amber crystals, gold and copper sparkly glitter, various colors of micro beads with some teal mica flakes, a"coral like" Fall leaf and the "seaweed like" leafy sprays that can easily be found near any beach.

Be sure to check out the video
for a quick tutorial and close some up photos.

Moments in Time

Hi all, happy to announce that once again I am a guest designer for Frilly and Funkie, as always, it is such a pleasure. This weeks challenge is hosted by Pamellia and the challenge theme is "Things with Wings"... create any vintage or shabby chic project with something that has wings. It can be butterflies, bees, dragonflies, whatever you can think of.

For my project I decided to do a shabby chic tag using purple, which is one of my least favorite colors to work with, but I just fell in love with the harlequin paper. For the wings challenge I chose to go with birds, I used the larger tag (#10) which would accommodate the clock, flowers and 2 birds that I knew I wanted to use. For the clock piece I used Scrapiniec decorative chipboard, I really love how a lot of their chipboard pieces are layered.

Be sure to stop by the Frilly and Funkie blog, join in on the challenge and check out some awesome inspiration from the design team.

Enjoy...

Have a great day!!!

Inspirational Butterfly Tag

Hi everyone, hope you're all having an enjoyable summer. Today I am happy to announce the I am the guest designer for Berry71Blue's Challenge Blog... it's truly an honor, thank you Denise and the team for having me on.

This month's mood board is "Summer Hideaway" which is posted below...and my take on this month's challenge is more of a last hoorah to Summer. Change is near with the new fall season just ahead and with summer coming to an end, I thought it perfect to create an inspirational tag using some beautiful butterflies and perfect wording from Dylusions stamps... "what appears to be the end is usually the start of a new beginning".

Love these colors, by far my favorite color combo, with my favorite color yellow being at the top... I can't tell you how thrilled I was to use them in my tag. I have a video tutorial with a complete supply list posted below. Be sure to stop by Berry71Blue's Challenge Blog for much more inspiration and have some fun by joining in on the challenge too!

Enjoy...

"Journey" Canvas and Mixed Media Giveaway

Hi everyone, happy to be back with another project and some great news. It's time for a giveaway and let me tell this is an awesome giveaway...I'm calling it a "Mixed Media start up kit". The reasoning behind it was to put almost everything and anything you would need for a mixed media project. I have a video posted below and you will see enough goodies to make all kinds of projects. For your chance to win, visit my YouTube channel... you must subscribe, like and comment on the video posted below...good luck!!!

If you missed out or didn't win the giveaway, don't fret as I plan on doing a couple more giveaways before the year is up.

Also today I have a project that I call "Journey" by the sea. I made this for this weeks Frilly and Funkie challenge...BY THE SEA and Deco Arts challenge...Under The Sea. For this project I used all kinds of fun embellishments, stencils, Prima and Petaloo flowers and a cute little resin seahorse by Prima, I painted it using some Deco Art paints in blues, greys, browns and white, super adorable. I also used Finnabair's rusting pastes for the corner pieces and Milange art pebbles for the water drops. All and all a ton of fun to make.

Enjoy...

Hard to see on the project,
but there's a Prima resin frame
under the seahorse.

Have a great day!!!

Vintage Mini Album... Family

Hi everyone, I'm happy to announce that today I am a guest designer for Frilly and Funkie, I'm so honored to have been chosen to do so and to be a part of this challenge. This weeks challenge is hosted by Suzz, the theme is... All in the Family - whether it's your ancestors, a favorite family memory or family outings, create a vintage or shabby chic project reflecting your family.

I thought what better way to create a family project than to create a mini album where I can utilize all of the above and then some. No Frilly today, I went with the Funkie side, this album will be used for journaling and photos, past and present... for family, home, traditions, history, etc. This will be something I will surely treasure for years to come, not to mention  a wonderful treasure to pass down to younger generations.

It's been a while since I've done a grungy vintage project and I can't tell you how much fun I had playing with it. For me, when it comes to vintage I instantly think of Tim Holtz, all of his products are perfect for creating a vintage project. I 've also used some of the Prima rusting pastes by Finnabair for an awesome rusting affect on the ring binder. There is a YouTube video tutorial posted below and it will have a list of all of the supplies needed, most of which you may find over at the Funkie Junkie Boutique.

Quick note: I did pick out 3 prompts from the Artist Prompt Box I made... I got 7 Gypsies, embossing powder and twine. I haven't used anything from 7 Gypsies in a long time, what a great way to pull out things that have been sitting a while and would probably continue to sit if it weren't for these prompts.

With that said, be sure to stop by Frilly and Funkie for more inspiration and join in on this wonderful challenge.

Enjoy...

7 Gypsies tab dividers, papers and transparencies...
to be decorated as I add photos and journaling.

Rust Paste and Rub N Buff on the ring binder and the name plate

Rubb N Buff on the pen nib... Spanish Copper and Antique Gold
and Tim Holtz distress embossing powder...Walnut Stain

Here's the tutorial...enjoy!

Have a wonderful day!!!

Abigail's Baby Album

Hello creative friends, I would love to share with you my latest project...a baby album for niece Stacey and her newborn daughter Abigail. I will only be sharing the outside of the album as there is just way too much on the inside for me to post and I didn't get a chance to do a "project share" video... the album itself is from Heartfelt Creations, I bought all the inserts for it and magnets to keep all of the inserts secure.

For the front/back covers and spine, I used a wide range of flowers, papers, metal embellishments, chipboard, lace, pearls, bling, embossing powders, paint and more. My most favorite part of this album is the book closure...the heart locket and the key behind it which says dream. Lots of love went into this album and I know she will enjoy it for years to come.

Enjoy...

Love this heart locket,
it has a little glass window so you can see what's inside.

Hello creative peeps, today I have a project that I made for the challenge over at Frilly and Funkie... "Oh the places you’ll go!". Even though I've been overseas, it is in my hopes to go back, visit family and travel through Europe, so better way to honor that than to create a project using the Eiffel Tower. I have a video posted below with the process and a list of supplies.

Mary will be giving 3 sets of Cardz TV Stamps for her blog candy, so if you’re a follower of Cardz TV, just leave a comment on her blog.

I will be giving away 2 sets of Cardz TV Stamps of your choice! You must be a follower of my blog and leave a comment below for a chance to win... WINNER will be announced on Wednesday!

I am saddened to say that after much consideration I have decided to resign as design team member for Cardz TV. I'm truly honored to have been part of this team, the design team girls are super talented and super sweet and Mary has been so supportive, caring and just a wonderful friend to have over the years. I will miss being part of the team, but I will still continue to enjoy seeing all of their creative talents!!!

Now onto my project... I decided to make the A2 size "magazine" holder with a base. I have made some of these previously, but I like that this one has a base to hold all 4 together, which I used 1 for each season. The svg file is from the Silhouette store design# 123191. I do plan to make another one for birthdays, thank you, moments and just because.

The Cardz TV Stamps used...
"Fun in the Sun", "Thankful for You", "Snow Day" and "Merry Everything", the "Think Spring" is (Retired).

Enjoy...
